Errors

Look up a named API error to see what it means, its status, its parameters, and which operations return it.

When an error response has an errorName, such as Catalog:StaleHead, look it up here to see what went wrong, which operations return it, and the parameters it carries. The name has the form <Service>:<Error>. The Catalog and Applications APIs return named errors; the other services use the error bodies described in HTTP API errors, which also explains the full error envelope.

An operation can also return a shared error that it does not list here. If you get an errorName that you do not recognize, handle it by its errorCode, such as CONFLICT or NOT_FOUND: the code is the stable category, so your handling still does the right thing when a service adds a new name.
